RulesRegeln规则

The board has seven columns and nine rows. In the middle are two rivers of two by three water squares. In the middle of each back row is a den, and the three squares around it are that side's traps. Each side has eight animals, ranked from 8 to 1: elephant, lion, tiger, leopard, wolf, dog, cat and rat. Red moves first; then the sides take turns moving one animal.

An animal moves one square forward, backward or sideways, never diagonally, and may never enter its own den. It captures an enemy animal of the same or a lower rank by moving onto its square. The rat captures the elephant, but the elephant cannot capture the rat. An animal standing in one of its enemy's traps can be captured by any enemy animal.

Only the rat may enter the water. A rat in the water cannot capture anything on land, and it cannot be captured from land; one rat in the water may capture the other. The lion and the tiger may jump straight across a river, along a row or a column, to the first land square on the other side, capturing there if they may, but not while a rat is in the water on that line.

A side wins by moving an animal into the enemy's den, or when the enemy has no animals left or no legal move. The same position arising for the third time is a draw, and so are fifty moves by each side without a capture.
