About the game
Blackjack against the dealer, played with chips that are only for fun. Get closer to 21 than the dealer without going over: hit, stand, double down, split pairs, and take insurance when the dealer shows an Ace. A six-deck shoe that is reshuffled as it runs low, a hint that knows basic strategy, and a fresh stack of chips whenever you run out. Nothing to buy and nothing to win but the next hand.
Rules
You play against the dealer. Cards 2 to 10 count their number, Jack, Queen and King count 10, and an Ace counts 11 or 1, whichever is better. A hand with an Ace counted as 11 is soft: one more card cannot bust it.
Bet 10 to 500 chips and press Deal. You get two cards face up, the dealer one face up and one face down. An Ace and a ten-card in your first two cards are a blackjack.
On your turn, Hit takes a card and Stand ends the hand. Double doubles your bet on the first two cards and takes exactly one more card. Split makes two hands of a pair (two cards of the same value), each with its own bet, up to four hands; split Aces get one card each. Going over 21 is a bust and loses at once.
When the dealer shows an Ace you may take insurance for half your bet; it pays 2 to 1 if the dealer has blackjack. With an Ace or a ten showing, the dealer checks for blackjack before you play, so a dealer blackjack only ever takes your first bet.
Then the dealer turns the hidden card and draws until the total is 17 or more. In the settings the dealer either stands on a soft 17 (the default) or takes another card.
A win pays 1 to 1, a blackjack 3 to 2, and a tie (a push) gives your bet back. The shoe holds six decks (one, two or eight in the settings) and is reshuffled before a hand once about three quarters of it are dealt.
The chips are play chips: nothing can be bought or won with them. Your stack is saved with the game, and if you run out you get a fresh stack of 1,000 at the next hand.
