Golf Solitaire
One higher or one lower: clear seven columns in long runs.
About the game
A quick patience with a long-run thrill. Every card lies face up in seven columns; play the top cards onto the waste, one rank higher or lower, whatever the suit, and see how far a run goes before you need the stock. The longer the run, the more each card scores. With undo, hints that look for the longest run, and deals that can always be won.
Rules
35 cards are dealt face up into seven columns of five. The other 17 form the stock; its first card starts the waste.
The top card of any column may go onto the waste if it is one rank higher or one rank lower than the waste's top card, whatever its suit. Runs can go up and down: 5, 6, 7, 6, 5 …
King and Ace do not follow each other, unless you switch "King and Ace" to "Follow each other" in the settings; then a King may go on an Ace and an Ace on a King.
When no card fits, tap the stock to turn its next card onto the waste. The stock is used only once. The game is won when all seven columns are cleared, and over when the stock is empty and no card fits.
Scoring: each card from a column scores as much as its place in the run (1, 2, 3 …); a card from the stock starts a new run. Clearing the table earns 10 for every card left in the stock.
"Winnable only" (the default) deals only games a solver has won knowing the order of the stock, so there is always a way.
