About the game

The simplest card game there is, against one computer player. You both turn over your top card and the higher one takes both. Equal cards? That is war: three cards face down, one face up, winner takes all. Play a short game of 52 battles or to the very last card, flip by hand or sit back with auto-play.

Rules

A standard deck of 52 cards is shuffled and split into two face-down piles of 26, one for you and one for the computer.

In each battle both players turn over the top card of their pile. The higher card wins (Ace high, then King, Queen, Jack, 10 down to 2), and the winner puts both cards under their pile.

If both cards have the same rank, it is war: each player lays three cards face down and a fourth face up. The higher of the new face-up cards takes everything on the table. Another tie means another war. A player who runs short lays what they have, the last card face up.

Whoever runs out of cards loses. In a short game the battles stop after 52, and the bigger pile wins. With auto-play the cards turn by themselves; the speed setting decides how fast.

How to play

  1. Tap your pile (or Flip) to turn your top card.
  2. The higher card takes both; Ace is high.
  3. A tie is war: three down, one up, the higher takes all.
  4. Whoever ends with all the cards (or more of them) wins.
