Spider Solitaire

Ten columns, two packs: build King to Ace in one suit and clear the table.

Let's Play

About the game

The big patience with two packs. Build down on any card one rank higher, gather runs of one suit, and every finished run from King to Ace leaves the table. Play with one suit to relax, two for a proper puzzle, or all four if you like it hard. With undo, hints, the classic scoring, and a new row from the stock whenever you are stuck.

Rules

Two packs, 104 cards, are played with one, two or four suits. 54 cards are dealt into ten columns, six in the first four and five in the others; only the top card of each lies face up. The other 50 wait in the stock, ten for each of five deals.

Any card may go on a card one rank higher, whatever its suit: a 7 on any 8. A run of one suit, each card one lower, moves as a whole; a mixed run has to be taken apart. Any card or run may go into an empty column. When a face-down card comes free it turns over.

Tap the stock to deal one card face up onto every column. You may not deal while a column is empty.

When a column ends in a full run of one suit from King to Ace, the run leaves the table by itself. The game is won when all eight runs are finished.

Scoring as in the classic game: you start with 500, every move and every deal costs one, and every finished run brings 100.

With one or two suits, "winnable only" (the default) deals only games a solver has won with all cards known, so there is always a way. Four suits are always dealt at random.

How to play

  1. Drag or tap a card to move it onto one a rank higher.
  2. Runs of one suit move together, so build in suit where you can.
  3. Tap the stock to deal a new row when you are stuck.
  4. A full run from King to Ace leaves the table. Clear all eight to win.
